Chatsworth Christmas Market in a van
Chatsworth, near Bakewell, Derbyshire. More than 100 stalls on Lodge Hill between the Stables and the house. Entry to the market is free — the thing you pay for, and must book, is parking.
Open daily. Monday to Thursday 10am–5.30pm, Friday to Sunday 10am–6pm.
What the organiser says about vans
- All parking must be booked in advance on the Chatsworth website. Without a booking you will not be admitted — the estate says do not drive there without one. [1]
- Full-day parking is from £25 per car in 2026, or from £15 after 3pm. Tickets are not valid for vehicles with 10 or more seats. [1]
- When the main car park is full, vehicles are parked on metal trackways across the parkland, which the estate warns can be slippery and muddy in wet weather. [1]
- A park and ride runs from Calton Lees car park (DE4 2NX) on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays: £20 per vehicle on Fridays, £25 at weekends. Chatsworth says campervans are welcome at Calton Lees, and that overnight camping is not permitted. [2]
- The shuttle bus runs 10am–1pm and 2pm–5pm, and there is no other transport back if you miss the last one. [2]
- Council enforcement officers and police monitor the surrounding villages during the market. [1]

Our plain advice
For a van, Calton Lees park and ride is the organiser's own answer — book it, and treat it as day parking only. A heavy motorhome on wet parkland trackway is worth avoiding. Sleep somewhere else and drive in for the day.
