Privacy
In short: the only thing we hold is the email address you typed in, and the list you chose. We use it only for what that list promised — one launch email, a reply about hosting, or the monthly email if you asked for it. No tracking, no analytics, no advertising, nothing sold or shared.
Who we are
This site is operated by ROAM STOPS LTD, a company registered in England and Wales, company number 17414780. You can reach us at hello@roamstops.com about anything on this page.
What we collect, and only this
- Your email address, because you typed it into one of our forms.
- Which form you used — traveller early access, host enquiry, or the monthly email — so we send you the right thing.
- The date and time you submitted it.
That is the complete list of what you give us. We set no cookies, run no analytics product, and use no tracking pixels or advertising tags. Nothing about you is sent to any third party.
Server logs
Like every web server, ours writes a log of requests. For this site it records the page requested, the time, the page you arrived from, and your browser type. The last part of your IP address is removed before the line is written (92.234.72.146 becomes 92.234.72.0), so what is stored is not enough to identify you. Logs are kept for 14 days and then deleted automatically.
We use them to count how many people read a guide and to spot broken links. Nothing else, and never joined to your email address.
Corrected 22 August 2026. An earlier version of this page said nothing was recorded about pages you view. That was wrong — a standard server log was being written the whole time. We have since reduced what it stores and described it properly here rather than quietly leaving the claim in place.
Why we are allowed to hold it
Your consent, given by submitting the form (UK GDPR Article 6(1)(a)). You can withdraw it at any time, and withdrawing is as easy as giving it — one email to us, and it is gone.
What we do with it
We email you when RoamStops launches, or — if you asked as a host — we send you the host pack explaining what hosting involves.
The monthly email is a separate list. If you joined it — and only then — we send you one email a month about trips, rules, events and new hosts. Joining the launch list does not put you on it. Every monthly email tells you how to stop it, and one reply to us does the same.
That is all. We will not email you about anything else.
Stopping. Every email we send has an unsubscribe link. It asks you to confirm once, then deletes your address. The link contains a code, not your email address.
Who else sees it
Nobody. We do not sell, rent, share or trade it. It is not passed to advertisers or data brokers. Two companies store it for us, as our processors, and neither uses it for anything: IONOS, who host this website and so hold the file it is written to; and Cloudflare, whose storage holds our nightly backup. The backup is encrypted on our server before it is sent, so Cloudflare holds a file it cannot read.
How long we keep it
For the launch and host lists: until launch, plus a reasonable period to actually send the thing you asked for — and no more than 24 months from when you gave it. If RoamStops does not launch, we delete the lot and tell you we have. For the monthly email: until you tell us to stop, at which point your address is deleted.
Backups. When we delete your address it goes from the live file straight away. Encrypted backups made before that still contain it, and the oldest of those is deleted automatically after about eight weeks. We do not restore an old backup in order to email anyone.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you can ask us to show you what we hold, correct it, delete it, or hand it over in a portable form. Email hello@roamstops.com and we will do it within one month — usually the same day, given how little there is. If you are unhappy with how we have handled it, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office.
Where it is stored
On our web hosting in the UK/EU, in a file that is not reachable from the internet. The encrypted backup is kept in Cloudflare's Western Europe storage region. The live file is not transferred outside the UK or EEA.
Changes
3 October 2026: added the monthly email as a third, separate list. Nothing changed for anyone already on the launch or host lists.
Corrected 3 October 2026. This page used to say IONOS was the only company that stores your address. Since 22 August 2026 an encrypted nightly backup has also been kept with Cloudflare, and the page did not say so. It does now, along with how long a deleted address survives in those backups.
If this changes, the date at the top changes with it. If the change is material and you are on the list, we will tell you before it takes effect.
